Ricoh GR1s 35mm – Fully Working (Daylight) – Flash Underexposes – User Camera

For sale is my Ricoh GR1s, a well-used but fully functional user camera.

I’m a photographer, not a reseller. This camera has been used recently and produces excellent results in normal daylight shooting. I no longer have space to keep it. 

Condition & operation (read carefully)

• Daylight exposure: Working correctly

• Autofocus: Accurate and responsive

• Lens: Clean, no haze or fungus visible

• Shutter & transport: Normal operation

• All shooting modes: Tested and working (see video)

Known issues (priced accordingly)

• Flash fires but underexposes by approx. 1–2 stops
  Likely one flash tube is failing — common GR issue. Usable at close range but not reliable for critical flash work.

• Filter / hood thread is dented
  Not perfect; some accessories may be tight or not fit. Still usable.

• Film window on rear door has been blacked out
  Done deliberately to prevent light leaks. Fully effective, but note this is a modification.

What this camera is (and isn’t)

• This is a great everyday GR for natural light / street use

• It is not collector condition

• It is not a perfect flash camera

• It is fully usable and shooting correctly

Proof

I bought it in this condition a number of years ago and have shot over a 100 rolls on it. Most recently last week. The BW print was shot and developed by my and printed 2025-12-27. The flash photo shows how a lab scan sees the underexposure and what brightening them in photoshop looks like. The camera works best as a daylight/no-flash walkaround though the flash isn't terrible at close range and in BW. The fairground photo was summer 2025.
